Service fab however when calling for a vet out of hours for suspected colic didn't expect to wait over hour and disappointed with this.
Misdiagnosed mare on 2 occasions. She was EXTREMELY lame and still is!Blacksmith came day after vet and found abscess immediately!! Vet had said no abscess prior to blacksmiths visit!Mare still EXTREMELY lame further 4 days later despite poulticing. I rang for I'M Penicillin and wouldn't give me it said they'd give oral following 3rd visit. Mare won't eat oral!!If she becomes septic and I lose her I will take it to RCVS.Have to get a different vetLast year Oakland's also came to put my dog to sleep. It took vet 5 attempts to get anaesthetic into vein. She couldn't get catheter into vein. I had to suggest using a needle which was successful. Both me and the dog were very distressed! My mare has been in pain for 8 days with no improvement!Don't use Oakland's as they are not up to the job or the money they charge for a poor inaccurate service which causes suffering to animals! This post is not about money as my mare is insured. It's about her suffering and my worry!Young vets who don't have the experience to do their job.
I have been a client of Oaklands for two years now, for both smallies and equine. The service offered by both vets and support staff is second to none. The euthanasia of my mare, following an accident was dealt with quickly and professionally. Their hospital facilities are first class and I had total confidence when leaving a horse there for a significant period for investigation and subsequent surgery. Staff are always happy to offer advice via email or telephone. As an animal lover and industry professional I highly recommend this practice.
The care and kindness shown to us and our beautiful dog when he was diagnosed with a melanoma and subsequently had to be put to sleep was second to none. All the staff and especially Kim, made such a devastating time much easier to bear. Can't imagine why anyone would use any other vetsYou have our eternal gratitude
