I attended the salon last Saturday morning with a head of hair that had been neglected for over a year, the salon was gorgeous and the hairdressers were lovely. I had not been to an actual hairdressers in ages, so the hairdresser I had, had her work cut out from the start. She did an absolutely amazing job, and finished with a bouncy blow dry which Ive never had before and has now resulted in me buying my own ceramic round brushes and practicing on my sisters. My hair has been completely transformed to the point where customers at work are stopping me and telling me how wonderful it looks. Its so healthy and manageable now I couldnt thankyou enough :) I will definitely be returning to this hairdressers if I could give more than 5 stars I absolutely would. Highly recommended. Thanks again ladies!!:)
Goodness, I dont tend to write negative reviews so lets start with the positives as I like to give a full assessment:The area was fairly fancy and done up with faultless mirrors, bright LED lights, quality washing basins (I had a cut and blow dry); everything that youd expect from a salon studio. The product that they used seems of good quality too as my hair is still shiny and soft and they were generous with how much they gave. Additionally, even though I had to wait +30 minutes for my appointment, the staff were apologetic for making me wait and I cant fault them for the delay so the bad rating wasnt for that. The low rating is for the quality of work and professionalism. The staff didnt even introduce themselves (ie, tell them their names, ask for my name) which made the whole experience somewhat cold. I went in with my mother and we had separate hairdressers so knowing which one we had was rather important. As blunt as I can put it: everything felt awfully apathetic. When I finally had my hair cut, I explained to her what I wanted: I wanted my fringe to be fixed up (since it was unevenly distributed), my hair shorter (in which we both agreed on collar bone length) and layers added in. A typical haircut was what I asked for. Before even going to have my hair washed, the hairdresser literally grabbed a fist-full of my hair and - I kid you not - she just chopped it off in one go like that certain Mulan scene (excluding sword, include frantic scissoring). I understand I had long hair (bust length) and I wanted quite a lot removed... but seriously? Never in all my experiences of getting a haircut has someone cut my hair like a 5 year old with a Bratz doll and Ive had bigger lengths removed before (from back length to pixie cut). Perhaps Im being a *special snowflake* but Ive been growing my hair for 8 months straight so a little more respect would have been desirable...With the hair washing, I cant really fault anything with that. The washing was comfortable, the water was the right temperature and as said before, the product was plentiful: so kudos when due.Back to cutting. Oh boy. Now Im quite short sighted so I cannot see myself in the mirror without having to stop and put my glasses on but not once was I given that second thought by my hair dresser. I asked for layers, I got a choppy mess (insert photos). It felt like she was taking the short route and just grabbing big bundles of hair because it was quicker or more convenient for her... and you can clearly see the difference. Not a slight attention to detail and I wasnt even given the option of wanted it curling or straightened... Hell, she didnt even give me a mirror to check the back either and when I get home, I can see why...In terms of service, there wasnt much. I had a cold and kept sniffing... I wasnt even offered a tissue and when I managed to rummage in my coat for one, the hairdresser didnt even stop to let me blow my nose. I know this isnt a big deal but when your nostrils are dripping like taps, it would be quite nice if you could let me wipe my unhygienic mess or is that a luxury that I have no right to ask for...?Plus, there was a 5 additional charge slapped on top of the original price because I had long hair? There was no warning or prior acknowledgement so that felt like a punch to the face.Overall, I wasnt pleased and all I can do is hope that they take this review as constructive criticism so they can clean up their professionalism for the other customers...Those of you who are wondering how the haircut turned out... lets just say that my friends started calling me Edna from the Incredibles. Its one thing to have the same energy as Edna but to get her hairstyle is something else...
